MoU Signing | Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science with Tarlac State University

From criminal investigations to civil disputes, forensic science plays a crucial role in helping to establish the truth and ensure justice is served.

The Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tarlac University in the Philippines, on 14 April, 2023, marking an exciting new chapter in the field of forensic science.

The MoU highlights the growing importance of forensic science in society. By working together, the Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science and Tarlac University can help further advance the field and promote a greater understanding of its role in society.

The MoU signing ceremony, which was attended by heads from both institutions, highlighted the shared commitment to advancing the study and practice of forensic science.

The agreement covers a range of areas, including:

  • Research collaboration
  • Student exchange programmes
  • Joint workshops and seminars

This partnership will offer exciting opportunities for students and professionals to engage in cross-cultural learning experiences.

Tarlac University students will have the chance to study at the Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science, while Sherlock Institute students will have the opportunity to study in the Philippines.

It will not only expand students' forensic science knowledge but also expose them to new cultures and ways of problem-solving.

The collaboration will help researchers from both the Sherlock Institute and the university make potential contributions to developing new techniques for crime solving.

A special thanks to Dean Peng de la Rama for this wonderful opportunity.

This significant and lasting MOU signing symbolizes a strong partnership, which we believe will pave the way for a number of opportunities, particularly for both institutions," he said.

Moreover, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Agnes M. Macaraeg is looking forward to the fruition of the partnership, which can further elevate the current stature of the university's criminology program.

Given that the program in criminology is already recognized as the top-performing school in the Philippines, with your help specifically in the field of forensics, we could do more than just be known as a top-performing school in the Philippines, but as a center in the field of forensics. And that could happen if you will be with us in this endeavour," VP Macaraeg said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Marlon V. Gamido, Academic Programs Unit Head under the International Affairs and Linkages Office, shared that the activities to be undertaken include faculty and student exchange, joint seminars, and a collaborative education program, among others.

Overall, the MoU signing will set a benchmark in the development of the field of forensic science. By working together, we can make significant contributions to the field and help train the next generation of forensic scientists.
